Steps to Create a New Coupon In WooCommerce
Here are the steps that you need to follow:
- Log into your WordPress site and access the Dashboard as the admin user.
- From the Dashboard menu, go to WooCommerce > Coupons.
- Click on Add coupon.
- A new page will appear and you are required to add a coupon code and the description fields. The coupon code is the code customers will enter to apply the coupon and it can be generated automatically. The description is optional and it is not visible to customers or merchants.

The coupon data block includes 3 sections. They are:
- General
- Usage restriction
- Usage limits

1. General Tab
In this tab, you can specify the discount type. You are provided with three discount types:
- Percentage discounts apply a percentage discount to the entire cart.
- Fixed cart discounts apply a fixed amount of discount to the entire cart.
- Fixed product discounts apply a fixed amount of discount to selected products only. The discount is calculated per item and not for the whole cart.
You can set the amount of the discount in the Coupon amount field. you can also set an expiry date for your coupon in the Coupon expiry date field.
You can also offer free shipping to customers using the coupon.
2. Usage Restriction Tab
It is very important to set the usage restriction. This is because anyone can add the coupon to their cart at any time.
You are provided with a few different restrictions to your coupon:
- Set a minimum or maximum order subtotal
- Include or exclude selected products or categories
- Limit by ‘allowed’ emails
3. Usage Limits Tab
This section allows you to specify how many times the coupon can be used per customer and in total.
You can also define the number of products it can be applied to at once.
